RECENT PROJECTS

All of our recent and past projects result in four important client benefits: 1) faster performance, 2), the best business continuity/disaster recovery systems, 3) increased cybersecurity, and 4) reduced IT costs.  Below are some example projects.  Call us to speak directly with any of these clients!

PROJECT //  Manufacturer Tech Refresh for Servers, Firewall, and All PCs

Situation:

Performance: When we took over, this local manufacturer was experiencing continual problems on their network and personal computers.

Backups/Disaster Recovery: Our server assessment revealed that the server's backups had not worked for a long period of time.  (Past and current backup failures are cotmmon at every new customer we review.)

Cybersecurity: No real cybersecurity present.  Firewall not configured for proper security.

Costs: The previous IT firm provided little value for what they were charging.  No security, wiring nightmares, and too many old servers.

Special: This manufacturer used the Epicor ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software which Ascent understood well and consulted on several improvements for time keeping and inventory.

Results:

Performance: Much higher network performance; and dramatically increased user productivity.  Several users reported that the new PCs and faster network gained them each one hour per day.

Backups/Disaster Recovery: Properly working backups with cloud archive, ransomware detection, new disaster recovery capabilities were installed.

Cybersecurity: Installed the latest, next-generation anti-virus tools, SIEM (Security Information and Event Management for threat detection, compliance, and security incident management, and configured their firewall for active threat and intrusion detection.

Lower Costs: The customer had too many old servers that they were paying support for, driving up unecessary costs.  Benefitted the vendor but not the client.   We consolidated three old servers into one new server, cutting server maintenance by two-thirds.  Got rid of a myriad of older systems and consolidated everything into our Ascent TechBox out of the way on the wall.

PROJECT //  Bookkeeping Company Moving from Cloud back to On-Premises Server

Situation:

Performance: When we took over, this local bookkeeping company was experiencing continual slowness on their cloud network and personal computers.

Backups/Disaster Recovery: Our server assessment revealed that the cloud server's backups were run only once per day and there were some backup outages.  (Past and current backup failures are cotmmon at every new customer we review.)

Cybersecurity: No real cybersecurity present.  Firewall not configured for proper security.

Costs: The previous IT firm provided little value for what they were charging for cloud services.  No security and slow cloud performance.

Results:

Eliminating the shared cloud server and installin an on-premises server resulted in much higher network performance; and dramatically increased user productivity without cloud delays.  All users reported that the much higher performance and less job frustration.

Backups/Disaster Recovery: Properly working local backups with cloud archive, ransomware detection, new disaster recovery capabilities were installed.

Cybersecurity: Installed the latest, next-generation anti-virus tools and configured their firewall for active threat and intrusion detection.

Lower Costs: The customer had been suspecting that their cloud computing costs were too high and their network was unecessarily slow.  We simplified and consolidated everything into our Ascent TechBox out of the way on the wall.  First-year IT budgeted costs dropped by $5,000 and the overall 5-year costs are projected to be $30,000 less than with cloud services.
